Today’s interview is with sidepreneur Jesse Gernigin. I connected with Jesse in the Side Hustle Nation’s private Facebook group. Thanks to Nick Loper for continuing to let me “feed” on his audience for potential interviewees!
I wanted to have Jesse on Sidepreneurial because his day job and side business is an interesting combination of hypnotism and coaching!
Let’s get going…
What Is Your Day Job and What Is Side Business?
My day job is a full time entertainer and educator. I am a hypnotist who works the midwest states of Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. I perform as a comedy stage hypnotist for highs schools. I also offer seminars to reduce stress, stop smoking, decrease test anxiety, increase confidence and lose weight. I work 25-50 hours a week depending on what time of year it is and how much marketing I do.
My side business is LiveGoldRich.com. I offer success and wellness coaching for people interested in making more money or living a healthier more well balanced life. I teach people how to find the 5% they need to succeed.
How Did You Choose Your Side Business?
My side business was an outgrowth of my interest as a hypnotist. As a hypnotist you are coaching people to be better versions of themselves. I identified the key concepts that hypnotists use to help achieve success with their clients. Once I figured out the key concepts of success I applied them to success and wellness.
How Do You Find The Time To Work On Your Side Business?
I travel a lot. I go all over the midwest working high schools and giving seminars or doing fundraisers in the towns I work at. Because I have worked at this job for years I have everything optimized. I have a lot of time between shows or after shows in my hotel room. I started studying four years ago. Three years ago I built a system. Two years ago I launched to a private community to modest success. This year I launched a blog to increase my reach, readership and people I help.
What’s Working Right Now In Growing Your Side Business?
Working referrals. In my business you rely heavily on talking directly with people, getting testimonials and referrals. My revenue increases greatly if I don’t have to market to get a new client. I’d also say that publishing online testimonials and videos of my shows on YouTube has helped me reach a wider market.
What Advice Can You Give Someone Who Is Thinking About Starting A Side Business?
Identify what it is in your business that makes you money. Optimize the process from start to finish for bringing money into your side business. The less work your potential customers have to do to reach you the greater chance you have of success.
