Hello, my name is Ryan Cote and thanks for being here!

Ever since I was in high school, I’ve had this entrepreneurial drive. I’ve tried selling things on eBay and Craigslist, I created and sold an eCommerce website and did very well with affiliate marketing. I even tried to sell vitamins in college my freshmen year by putting up flyers around campus stating that the cafeteria food was not healthy and you needed to supplement your diet with my vitamins. That didn’t last too long as the Dean called me into his office and told me to stop. My wife still makes fun of me for this story.

I also come from a family of entrepreneurs.

In fact, I work full-time for my family business called Ballantine. We’re a print and digital marketing company. I love my job and the potential is huge as, I assume, I will eventually be one of the owners. So the strategy behind my side business is not to quit my career. I do it to supplement my income, but also because I love creating and running my own business. And because this is a side business, it doesn’t come with the stress of having to support my family. Don’t get me wrong, my family depends on the supplemental income I make, but it’s not the same as it being my sole source of income.

So what’s my side business?

Since late 2010, I’ve run my own website marketing service for small businesses. I’ve pivoted a couple of times, but right now the company is called WPamplify and I’ve niched down to focus on small businesses with WordPress websites. With the exception of the first 12 months of my business as I was getting going, I’ve managed to keep my monthly income at the 4 figure level, and 5 figures annually.

So why am I creating Sidepreneurial?

The whole point behind this website is to try to help you start your own service based side business. Is it also to create an additional side income stream? To be honest, maybe, but my main mission to provide value. I listen to a lot of podcasts and I keep hearing about entrepreneurs providing awesome value and helping people achieve success and I realize this is something I haven’t really done yet in my sidepreneurial career.

Sidepreneurial is my attempt to provide value.

I do this with my website marketing business by helping companies generate more leads which hopefully they convert into sales, but I want to help individuals too. And one day while driving to work, it hit me hard that I’ve managed to reach a level of success with my side business that would impact lives if I could help others do the same thing. I started thinking about how I’ve built up my side business and it became clear to me that I’ve followed certain process and strategies that are teachable and learnable. I’ve also made a lot of mistakes and learned from these failures which I can pass onto you.

Honestly, I’m just an average guy with a wife and 3 daughters that lives in New Jersey and works hard every day, both on my career and my side business. I’ve got a lot of knowledge in my head around creating a successful service based side business and I want to help you do the same!
